DADA DUM DI DUM: The Waste Land inspired Ekphrastic/Found Poetry
April 21 @ 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm
The Waste Land inspired Ekphrastic/Found Poetry writing workshop ; for participants, aged 14 & above. Participants undertake a silent visit to Ian Jones & Catherine Francis-Yeats’ exhibitions at Beach Creative & take notes on anything striking. The facilitator will then share examples of other poets, including DADA / FUTURIST poetry – as these were contemporaries of Eliot at the time of his writing The Waste Land.
Participants may then choose to a) cut up & use Eliot’s poem itself to create a found poem; or b) combine their notes on the art-works & knowledge of the area to make an ekphrastic poem. NB: An Eliot favourite, Stravinsky’s Rites of Spring may very well be playing quietly in the background.
Participants will share their poems in the workshop & in addition be invited to perform as Very Special Guests during our At The Edge, TS Eliot inspired Spoken Word event later in the day.
