UK Windsurfing Association are once again staging Event Two of their 2013 National Course Racing Series and the 2nd of the North Sea Cup events at Herne Bay on Sat May 25, Sun 26 and Mon 27 at Herne Bay Sailing Club
Last year’s event, also held in Herne Bay, was a great success, with some 120 sailors from the UK and northern Europe competing, together with their families and supporters plus spectators and visitors and the UKWA are looking forward to an equally enjoyable return visit.
In the past Herne Bay Sailing Club has extended a very friendly welcome to UKWA sailors, who have enjoyed the excellent facilities of the clubhouse with its superb view of the bay.
Over 100 of the UK’s top racers are expected, including a sprinkling of our World Champions, together with the cream of windsurfers from northern France, Belgium and the Netherlands. The first two days of the event will count as part of the North Sea Cup Series, which is also contested at Ostend in Belgium in May and at Wimereux in France in June. Sailors will be competing on the RS:X Olympic board, plus Raceboard and Formula classes. Juniors will be on Techno One design boards with 6.8 and 7.8sq. metre sails. Racing is scheduled to begin no earlier than 11.00am on Saturday 25th and each morning around 10.30 am, weather permitting, and should continue until late afternoon, providing a fascinating and colourful spectacle both on the beach and on the water.
Herne Bay Sailing Club would like to take this opportunity to invite members of the public to come and view this great spectacle that is taking place in our town and would also like to thank the Herne Bay Promo Team for all their help in promoting this event along with Canterbury City Council for their help, advise and enthusiasm shown.
